What is it and what symptoms does it cause?

Spondylolisthesis is the slipping of one vertebra over another, which may cause spinal instability. It produces lower back pain, sometimes radiating to the legs, and may be associated with nerve compression. Symptoms may worsen with physical activity or prolonged standing.

How is it diagnosed?

It is diagnosed with X-rays, especially dynamic ones, which assess the degree of displacement. MRI helps evaluate nerve and soft tissue involvement.

How is it treated?

Initial treatment is conservative with physiotherapy and pain control. If significant instability or persistent symptoms exist, spinal fixation surgery is performed using screws and rods, often combined with bone fusion.
